Today we hiked up to
Burg Rheinfels , said to be the best example of castle ruins on the Rhine, located just above St. Goar.
The view on this hike was impressive.
The castle ruins are extensive and only about one fifth of the original Burg Rheinfels.
After the hike we had lunch
followed by a nap (we ARE on vacation after all) before traveling to Oberwesel. We hiked to a portion of the original town wall.
Then on into town where we discovered an unusual museum
which turned out to be fascinating. The owner ran a computer repair service and his hobby (meteorites) has become an obsession that he discussed with us.
We toured around Oberwesel for a while
before returning to St. Goar for dinner with some fellow Untouists from Tennessee and Canada.
