Today we had our official "Orientation" with our Untours representative. We went to the local bakery beforehand, then over to the grocery to stock up on supplies for in-house meals.
Our orientation was pretty thorough, covering how to use a bus pass, how go get to the train station, and then an educational town walk with lunch - Dutch pancakes (they are huge):
After lunch we were glad to do some more walking around for the rest of our orientation.
The weather was cold and blustery so we decided to cook in, not to mention we were feeling the need for some vegetables in our diet. We hit another grocery store on the way home to pick up some dinner supplies. Here, you weigh the fruits and vegetables as you select them rather than at the check stand.
Also, the selection of cheeses at this market was amazing. Notice the rounds in the back. We've heard the Dutch eat a lot of dairy products; cheese must be one of them.
Our kitchenette features a microwave with a convection oven so we were able to bake a crispy pizza to go along with our veggies.
When we got to our apartment yesterday, the outside temperature was around 60 degrees F, and it felt like the interior was much the same. When we returned from our orientation today, we found the heat had been turned on, and it is much more comfortable in our space. We are just relaxing with a glass of beer and enjoying our time together. Later is soon enough to decide where we will go tomorrow.
