Day 6 - On The Road - Railroad, That Is!

Today we took a ride on the DB, the Deutches Bahn or German Railway from St. Goar (our home base) to Bonn:

Where we decided to visit the Haribo factory outlet store, a surprisingly interesting store.

One of the more unusual varieties available was called "A.. and Ears":

Then we went to Cologne; the cathedral was absolutely fantastic:

You can read more online about this beautiful strcture, but an amazing fact is that this structure survived the Allied bombing of Cologne during WWII.

Adjacent to the cathedral we found both a Starbucks and a McDonalds. Gotta say, they each had a better view than any other ones I know about.

As we walked around the town we discovered some modern art:

Then back to St. Goar for dinner:

And dessert:

And another round of laundry. But we have heat now that the landlord could get to the basement, so it shouldn't take two days for the laundry to dry as the last round did. As you see, there wasn't much sun today, and it was really cold and wet (around 55 degrees) as we toured Bonn. Sun came out later so things warmed up. It will be a shock to get back the 100+ temp at home.
